Doug Bennett of Doug And The Slugs, who passed away almost twenty years ago, lived next door to Teresa Alfeld when she was growing up in Vancouver. She had no idea that he was a rock star – she just knew him as her friend Shea Bennett‘s dad – just a goofy guy next door who loved to play pranks.
As an adult, long after he died, Alfeld began to get into the band’s music, and now, she’s helmed a new documentary about their journey from Vancouver bar band to chart toppers and back again.
Doug And The Slugs And Me aired yesterday on CBC and is now streaming on CBC Gem.
