Rob Reiner, the director of the Spinal Tap mockumentary, said yesterday that he’s enlisted Paul McCartney, Elton John, and Garth Brooks to appear in the sequel to the 1984 mockumentary.
The original featured Michael McKean, Derek Smalls, and Christopher Guest, playing members of the fictional British heavy metal outfit. On a podcast, Reiner mentioned that part two, which was revealed last year, would begin shooting in February 2024. McKean, Smalls, and Guest are expected to be on board as well, and Reiner will return as filmmaker Marty DiBergi. Last year, he said he hoped to have the sequel done in time for the original’s 40th anniversary in March, but he’d have to do some pretty speedy work to pull that off.
