Years ago, I'm talking late 90s, we traveled along Wilkinson Road alot and one day our daughters asked what that big blue house was that sat beside the 'castle'. (We didn't want to burst their bubble and tell them it was a jail). I told them it was an orphanage and if they didn't listen I would drop them off there, with just their backpacks filled with pjs, and their toothbrush, and they could go live with a NEW family. This went on for years, everytime we drove by...." oh there's the Orphange". I don't know what year it was but they put the left turning lane in, the girls were acting up and I actually put my blinker on and got into the turn lane, they both started freaking out and on the verge of tears! I asked if they were gonna be good? Yes, yes we'll be good.
Well to my surprise, they actually tore that old building down and the next time we drove by both girls cheered and laughed and yelled HAHA you can't take us to the orphanage anymore!
Jump to about 5 years ago, my girls are now adults and they started talking about "The Orphanage", I had all but forgot about this little fib I had told them when they were young. They were utterly speechless that for 20 years they thought the Big Blue house on the hill was in fact NOT an orphanage after all. True story
